A family made up of four people, the grandfather, the mother, the father and the son are back from an excursion. They must cross, at night, a chasm on a footbridge that can only support two people. Taking into account their ages and physical capacities, these people take respectively 10 min, 5 min, 2 min and 1 min to cross. It should be noted that these four people have only one flashlight that is indispensable for completing the crossing and that the width of the footbridge is such that no one can go around another person.

What trick will they use to get all the family members across before the cable car leaves, i.e. in a maximum of 17 minutes?
